Hybrid Learning Part 2: How to Keep a Positive Mindset While Learning From Home

As discussed in my previous blog, online learning and working from home can harm a person's mental health. In a survey by the Royal Society for Public Health, people that switched to working online due to the pandemic experience wellbeing impacts. This blog offers some top tips on maintaining a positive mindset while studying/working from home.

Top Tips

Here are my top tips to keeping that positive mindset.

Create a Routine

Having a routine can help you feel less overwhelmed about what work you have to do. A schedule can help you break down the lines between work and home life and help create consistency in your days.

Shower and Get Dressed

An essential part of your routine should be showering and getting dressed before you start working. Feeling clean and wearing clean clothes can help you feel more like yourself. Doing this can help set you up ready for the day.

Stay Connected

Working from home can feel isolating. Staying connected to friends and family can help you feel more relaxed. It also makes the situation of online learning feel more normal. Talking to people can have a massive positive impact on your mental health. One of the most important things is to stay connected.

Create a Dedicated Workspace

Online learning means that students are working from the bedrooms, in either accommodation or their family home. Working in your bedroom or sofa can create distractions and blur the lines between work and personal time. Devising a dedicated workspace, whether a desk or a separate room, can help you focus more. It also produces a separation between your work and personal areas.

Make Time For You

It is crucial when working and learning from home to make time for yourself. Creating a set time each day to finish work can give you a nice amount of personal time in the evening. Doing this means you can switch off work mode and relax. Finding time during the day to walk, read and relax will also help you feel less overwhelmed.

Hopefully, these tips can help you maintain a positive mindset!
